What you'll experience
Bacalar is called the Mexican Maldives and they're not exaggerating. The lagoon has 7 shades of blue thanks to different depth levels and the cenotes that feed it from the bottom.
We leave Playa del Carmen very early because it's worth every kilometer. Upon arrival we take a boat to tour the lagoon, stop at the rapids where water runs crystal clear, and visit Cenote Negro and Cenote Cocalitos with their living stromatolites.
Fresh fish meal by the lagoon, free time to walk the Pueblo Mágico of Bacalar and take the classic photo from the pier. It's a long day, but we promise: it's worth every hour of travel.
